Ambiguous loss is a type of loss that lacks clarity and closure. Its continual nature complicates and delays the grieving process, often resulting in unresolved grief.

Join internationally renowned Australian researcher Dr Sarah Wayland for this online facilitation training program for counsellors responding to the support needs of families of missing people.

This training comes off the back of a successful pilot program funded by the Missing Persons Advocacy Network (MPAN) to train healthcare practitioners in the area of ambiguous loss, in order to provide families of long term missing loved ones specialised care.

This three part course explores the evidence base relating to provision of support interventions and provides scope to review your professional perspectives about ambiguous loss and offers participants a chance to share collectively their ideas for reducing distress for this population group.

After attending all parts of the training, you will be provided with a certificate and access to a closed Facebook group for continued professional guidance. You might also be added to MPAN's counsellor database to provide sessions (paid) to families the charity works directly with, if you so wish.

Please note this is available to all international guests, however the training and written content will be in English. The training is scheduled in AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time).
